Electricity is not readily available to everyone around the world, and some companies are doing their part to change this. Consortium member Direct Energy has announced a new program to benefit those living without electricity in developing countries including Kenya, Haiti, Nepal, and the Philippines. Working with MPOWERD, Direct Energy’s new program will give new customers signing up for energy plans an inflatable, solar Luci light and one will be donated on their behalf to someone who lives without energy. Luci lights are an example of affordable clean energy; they can brighten a room for up to 12 hours after charging during the day.
