In the past decade, government, insurances companies, businesses, and citizens have spent $350 billion to mitigate the effects of extreme weather and fire events. A GAO report estimates that sea-level rise and more frequent, intense storms will cause between $4 to $6 billion in coastal property damage between 2020 and 2039. How utilities respond will define cities’ futures and set an example for other countries dealing with similar challenges. Join webinar participants Manuel Pimenta, Sr., an Engineer at Con Edison, and Andre Smit, Siemens Digital Grid Engineering Manager, in a discussion of the effects of Superstorm Sandy on the resiliency-first mindset five years on.
