Governor Andrew Cuomo announced $55 million for commercial and residential energy storage projects on Long Island. This initiative will contribute towards achieving the New York state’s goal of 3,000 Megawatts of energy storage capacity by 2030. An initial amount of $15 million is available immediately as incentives from NYSERDA’s Retail Energy Storage Incentive Program, NY-SUN Program and PSEG-LI’s DLM tariffs. The remainder of the funds will be deployed over the next 3-5 years. The funding also complements NYS investments in wind and solar. According to several senators, NYSERDA and PSEG-LI officials, this initiative will assist in obtaining grid resiliency and development of clean energy technologies by driving down costs and assisting in scale-up.
