Large-Scale Energy Projects Underway in NY
During NYS Governor Cuomo’s 2017 State of the State address, he presented several proposals to enhance clean energy, along with $360 million in awards for 11 large-scale renewable energy projects. The projects are located throughout the state and include a variety of hydro projects, wind farms, and new equipment installations, among others. The projects are expected to generate enough renewable energy to power more than 110,000 homes each year and reduce carbon emissions by more than 420,000 metric tons. Support is provided by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), a Consortium member. The projects align with the Governor’s Clean Energy Standard, to have 50% of the state’s energy come from renewable sources by 2030. Read more from NYSERDA here.
