National Energy Employment Analysis Shows Key Findings
Results from the recently released Department of Energy (DOE) 2017 U.S. Energy and Employment Report (USEER) show national economic growth in the energy sectors. Data was collected by a survey conducted via web, phone, and email examining four sectors of the economy: electric power generation and fuels; transmission, wholesale distribution, and storage; energy efficiency; and motor vehicles. The Traditional Energy and Energy Efficiency sectors employ approximately 6.4 million Americans, an increase of nearly 5% from the previous year. Energy efficiency jobs, including the solar and wind industries, also increased. Notably, data shows that, overall, approximately one third of construction employees work on energy efficiency projects.
