National Grid and NYSERDA Host Clean Heating and Cooling Demos on Long Island
NYSSGC members National Grid and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) recently announced two demonstration projects that will provide residents of Long Island with clean heating and cooling (geothermal) systems. National Grid New York President Ken Daly and NYSERDA President and CEO Alicia Barton attended the first demo, held in Glenwood Village, a 55-and-over community. National Grid installed a shared (community loop field) system providing heating and cooling to 10 homes in Glenwood Village as part of a three-year Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) demonstration project. At the same time, NYSERDA announced the first five of 35 sites on Long island the will receive clean heating and cooling systems under the state’s own demonstration project. In a joint effort, National Grid and NYSERDA will collaborate to collect and analyze performance data for all installations. For the press release, click here.
