New Program to Recognize Green Businesses in NYS
New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has introduced the New York Green Business Program (NYGB), a new initiative designed to formally recognize businesses in the state that operate sustainably and those that go above and beyond environmental state laws to implement projects that safeguard and enhance New York’s environment. In addition to recognizing environmentally responsible businesses, the New York Green Business Program will provide technical and expert assistance to businesses committed to sustainability. Businesses who qualify to be a NYGB business will be able to market themselves as environmental leaders. To become a NYGB member, a business must have a good record of compliance with environmental laws and regulations; demonstrate a commitment to projects that lower their environmental footprint, and communicate their efforts to achieve sustainability to customers and employees.
