New Proposed Regulations Call for All Power Plants in NYS to Be Coal-Free by 2020
NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to release proposed regulations that would require all power plants in the state to meet new, more stringent emission limits for carbon dioxide (CO2). If passed, these regulations would make NY power plants coal-free by 2020 and support New York’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030. The state is scheduling three public hearings in July 2018 to provide opportunities for the public and other stakeholders to comment on the regulations. For the Governor’s press release, click here.
