NY Energy Storage Industry Sees Significant Growth
The New York State storage industry’s employment rate has grown 30 percent from 2012 through 2015. The annual global revenues grew 50 percent to $906 million during the same time. This helpful data was found in the recently released report, “The Energy Storage Industry in New York State: Recent Growth and Projections 2015 Update,” funded by The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and issued by Industrial Economics Inc. The growth in this industry was spurred by New York’s commitment to clean energy and shows the State’s continued support for the Clean Energy Standard. In addition to use with power generation, energy storage technology is also used in electric vehicles, which deploys the energy from braking to recharge energy storage batteries. As a result, energy storage technology helps the state reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Read more from NYSERDA here.
