NYISO Releases Power Trends 2017 Report
Among the key findings presented in 2017 Power Trends, recently released by the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), a NYSSGC member, are predictions that bode well for the future of clean energy in New York State: Energy efficiency efforts and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) are expected to reduce peak demand on the state’s bulk power system by more than 900 MW in 2017 and by nearly 3,300 MW in 2027. The annual report provides information and insights into current and emerging trends in the power grid and wholesale electricity markets, presenting findings on changing patterns of demand, regional differences in energy consumption and sources, updates on efforts to cultivate cleaner energy, and other issues. NYISO President and CEO Brad Jones noted that the report “offers insights into our continuing efforts to advance the grid towards an efficient, affordable, and reliable future.” Read more here.
