NYPA Collaborates on Study to Support Grid Resiliency
Using cost-effective strategies to upgrade networks and reduce power disruptions is the focus of a joint study by the New York Power Authority (NYPA), an NYSSGC member, and The Ohio State University. The study, supported by a National Science Foundation grant, will research the effects of hurricanes on transmission lines and towers to develop solutions that support a stronger, more resilient power grid throughout the U.S. In making the announcement, NYPA President and CEO Gil C. Quiniones noted that “being able to more easily identify vulnerable systems and provide retrofit solutions would be a cost-effective way to upgrade the national network.” To read more, click here.
