The New York Power Authority (NYPA), a NYSSGC member, has opened a new, state-of-the-art digitized command center at the White Plains headquarters. The announcement was made on December 12, 2017, by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo. The Integrated Smart Operations Center (iSOC) will monitor NYPA power plant operations, improve operational efficiencies, and drive energy innovation. With New York State’s latest investment in clean energy technology, the Center further advances the Governor’s goal for NYPA to become the nation’s first all-digital utility. The iSOC “will help NYPA make optimal, cost-efficient asset management decisions at its power generating facilities that will improve performance, lower operating costs, and help to reduce carbon emissions. . .” said John R. Koelmel, NYPA Board of Trustees Chairman. NYPA President and CEO Gil Quiniones noted that “by using advanced data analysis to monitor all our assets simultaneously, we can continue to provide low-cost and reliable power by making smart and efficient operating decisions in real time.” For the press release, click here.
