More NYS Utility Personnel Deployed to Aid Puerto Rico

An additional rotation of New York utility personnel were sent to Puerto Rico by Governor Andrew Cuomo to help restore power to the island’s power grid, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Maria in September 2017. The latest deployment, including 46 personnel from National Grid (a member of the NYSSGC), supports NYS’ commitment to have 450 utility personnel on-island to help restore power. In thanking the utility workers, Gil C. Quiniones, CEO and President of the New York Power Authority (NYPA), a NYSSGC member, noted that “this new influx of volunteers will help galvanize our power recovery efforts. We have made significant gains in the restoration effort and these additional resources will help to further our progress, especially as new partners join the effort.
